Informed Filler 2.x Basics

Informed Filler Location:

The default location for the Informed Filler application is:
    C:\Informed (PC)
    MacHD:Informed  (Mac)
Two important folders within the Informed folder are the Data and Template folders. The Data folder holds all the data that you input when keying information into the forms. The Template folder stores the actual layout of the forms, including any calculations. By separating the form into two parts, updated Templates can be added without affecting the user's Data.

Informed Filler is set up much like a database in that you can store many forms in one file. You can think of each form file as a separate database, within which is a collection of forms (called records). For example, it is necessary to have only one Purchase Requisition file on your hard drive, within which you could have hundreds or thousands of completed records.

Each form is make up of many cells in which you input information. To move from one cell to the next the TAB key is used. Holding down SHIFT+TAB will move the cursor on cell position back. In addition, the mouse can be used to quickly move to a particular cell on a form.

Records vs Files:

As mentioned above, Informed Filler is designed much like a database. You should only have one file on your hard drive (in the Data folder) for each form you use. Inside of each of these files you can have as many records as necessary. By storing all Purchase Requisitions in the same file, it is very easy to open this one file and search through the forms. If you saved every Purchase Requisition you completed with a different file name, the number of files in your Data folder would grow enormous making it difficult to quickly find a form you need.

Status Bar, Record Indicator, and Page Indicator:

The status bar will help you to keep track of where you are in your record collection. As you add, duplicate, and remove records the status bar will be updated. The first number reports the total number of records in the file. The next set of numbers inform you of which record you are currently working on; use the arrow on either side to navigate through the forms. The page indicator displays the current page number; use the arrow on either side to navigate though multi-page forms.
