Citrix WinFrame |
You need Citrix WinFrame access if:
To access the new administrative systems from the WinFrame servers you need the following:
The new administrative applications on campus (PeopleSoft and Sims/R) require 32-bit Windows-based computers with fast network connections. PeopleSoft and Sims/R will not run natively on Macintosh computers. PeopleSoft and Sims/R will not run natively on 16-bit Windows-based computers. PeopleSoft and Sims/R will not run on computers with dial-up connections. WinFrame is an operating system that allows other computers (Windows 3.1/9x/NT/2000, Mac, Unix) to connect to it and run applications from the WinFrame server. Only screen updates and mouse clicks are sent back and forth between the WinFrame server and your computer. All processing is done on the WinFrame server, leaving your workstation free to do other tasks. With the small Citrix WinFrame client (about 1.5 MB in size) installed on your computer, you can connect to the WinFrame servers and run programs like PeopleSoft and Sims/R without actually having the PeopleSoft and Sims/R software installed on your workstation. The small WinFrame client does not take up much space and does not require your network settings to be reconfigured. It is a non-intrusive client that frees your computer from the chore of having to run the client/server software required by the new administrative systems on campus. |
